Birthday Invitations
No matter what type of birthday you are planning the birthday invitations are an important element in establishing the theme and style of the birthday party. Inviting Concepts offers a wide selection of birthday invites sure to fit into your theme perfectly. Below we take a look at how and when to send out the perfect birthday invitation.
Who to Invite
The invitation list will vary depending on if the birthday party is for an adult or child. If you are sending out birthday invitations for your child and they are old enough to help you with the invite list have them provide input on who they would like at their party. You do not need to invite everyone in your child’s class but use this to teach them how someone would feel if they were not invited. You can also write on the invitation that parents are welcomed to stay if they choose but it is not required.
Information to Include on Birthday Invitation
You will want to include the following components on your birthday invitations:
· Opening – this could be a short phrase such as “Maddyis turning 9! We would like you to come celebrate with us at her birthday party.”
· Description – A Birthday Party for Maddy Johnson
· Name of the Hosts – hosted by Maddy’sparents Bryan and Brenda
· Date and Time – Saturday, July 10th 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM (you may want to consider putting an end time especially if the party is for a child. This lets the parents know when to pick up their children.
· Location – include the name of the venue. If it is at a house provide street address and any other information that may help people find the location. You can also include a map of the address.
· Instructions – indicate the attire needed. For example “wear loose, comfortable clothing the children will be jumping in a bouncy house.”
· RSVP – this line is for guests to indicate if they are going to attend the birthday party or not. You should include your name, phone number, email, and an RSVP deadline. For birthday parties it is typical for guests to RSVP via phone, word of mouth, or email. For more formal events you should include a reply card.
When to Send out Birthday Invitations
If the party is for a child it is appropriate to send out the invitations two to three weeks in advance. If the party is a more formal occasion you should send out the party invitations at least one month in advance to give people as much time as possible.
Delivery
Either hand deliver or mail them. If your child is not inviting everyone from their class it is best not to hand them out in front of everyone. This avoids hurt feelings.
If you do not want people to feel obligated to bring presents to the party it is fine to indicate so on the birthday invitation. A line on the birthday invite could read “no gifts please.”
